Update guide
How to update Anilili
Anilili checks for its own updates and prompts you when one is ready. If you would rather update by hand, or the prompt never shows, every method is here.

The in-app updater
On launch, Anilili quietly checks whether a newer build exists for the type of device you are on. Phones are offered phone builds, TVs are offered TV builds, so an update never switches your interface by accident. When one is found you get a small prompt with the version and a short note on what changed.
- Tap Update on the prompt, or open Settings → About → Check for updates.
- The APK downloads inside the app.
- The system installer opens. Confirm the install over the top of the current version.
- Reopen Anilili. Your library, downloads and sign-in are untouched.
If you turned off Install unknown apps for Anilili after your first setup, turn it back on for the app, or the in-app installer cannot run.
Manual update on a phone
Download the latest APK
Open the download page and grab the same build you run now, usually Anilili.apk.
Install over the top
Open the file and confirm. Android recognises it as an update because the package name matches.
Done
No need to uninstall first, and nothing to restore.
Manual update on a TV
Open the Downloader app, go to the history or favourites list, and select the Anilili entry again, or re-enter code 5124691. Install over the existing app. Full steps are in the Downloader guide.
What is kept and what is not
| Kept across an update | Not affected either way |
|---|---|
| Player and subtitle settings | Your AniList / MyAnimeList account, which lives on their servers |
| Downloaded episodes and exported MP4s | Watch history synced to a connected account |
| Source priority and sub/dub filters |
An update never wipes downloads. The only time you lose local data is a full uninstall, which is not part of any update method here.
Update problems
| Symptom | Fix |
|---|---|
| Update prompt never appears | Check manually from Settings → About. If nothing is offered, you are already on the latest build. |
| App not installed during update | The new APK is signed differently, or storage is full. Free space and retry. As a last resort, note your settings, uninstall and reinstall. |
| Installer will not open | Re-enable Install unknown apps for Anilili or for Downloader. |
| New version crashes on start | Clear the app cache in system settings. If it continues, reinstall the previous build from Discord and report it with a support report. |
Stay current
Newer builds add sources and fix playback edge cases. Updating over the top keeps everything you have.
