Install Anilili on Amazon Fire TV

Use the TV build

Install Anilili_tv.apk. On Fire TV this matters more than on other devices: the phone build includes Google Cast, and Fire OS Play Services cannot serve the Cast module, which causes a start-up failure on some sticks. The TV build leaves Cast out, so it starts cleanly and is about 1 MB smaller.

Turn on app installs

1. From the Fire TV home screen, go to Settings → My Fire TV → Developer options.
2. If Developer options is missing, open Settings → My Fire TV → About, highlight the device name and press the select button seven times.
3. Set Apps from Unknown Sources to ON. On newer Fire OS versions you enable it per app when prompted.
4. Turn off Install app updates via USB debugging if it is on. It is not needed.

Install with Downloader

1. Get Downloader

   Search the Amazon Appstore for Downloader by AFTVnews and install it. It is free.

2. Enter the code

   Open Downloader. In the URL field, type 5124691 and select Go.

   

3. Allow and install

   If Fire OS asks, allow Downloader to install apps, then return and confirm. Select Install, wait, then Done.

4. Delete the APK

   Downloader offers to delete the file it downloaded. Choose Delete, then Delete again. The app is already installed.

Move Anilili to the front row

Fire TV drops sideloaded apps at the end of Settings → Applications → Manage Installed Applications, and also under Your Apps & Channels → See All. Open it from there once, then press and hold the select button on its icon and choose Move to front so it sits on the home row.

Fire OS notes

• Minimum version is Fire OS 5 (based on Android 5.1). Every Fire TV Stick from the second generation on is newer than that.
• Fire TV remotes have no dedicated back-long-press menu, so use the app's own episode drawer and settings inside the player.
• Casting is intentionally absent on this build. Playback already runs on the TV.
