Everything Anilili can do

The video player

Playback runs on Media3, the same engine a lot of first-party Android video apps use. That means hardware decoding where the device supports it, and a control set that behaves the way you expect.

• Quality selection for switching between resolutions when a source offers more than one.
• Audio tracks so you can move between languages on releases that carry more than one.
• Captions with styling and timing controls. Change the font size, colour and background, and nudge the subtitle delay when a track runs ahead or behind.
• Playback speed from slow to fast, held per session.
• Content scaling to fit, fill or zoom, which is handy for releases with baked-in black bars.
• Gestures for brightness, volume and seeking.
• Picture-in-picture so an episode keeps playing in a floating window while you use another app.
• Casting controls in the phone build for sending playback to a Cast target.

Streaming sources and fallback

Anilili does not run its own servers. It reads episode links from public third-party providers and plays whichever one answers. Supported sources include Miruro, Senshi, AniBD, AniKoto, KickAssAnime, AllAnime, AnimeKai, ReAnime, AniZone, AnimeGG, AniNeko, 2DHive and RareAnimes, plus other compatible providers.

You can set a priority order for servers and filter by sub or dub. When your first choice is down, the app moves to the next one on the list instead of failing. Provider coverage shifts week to week, so this is the part of the app that does the quiet work of keeping playback going.

Offline downloads

Downloads run in the background with a progress notification, so you can queue a few episodes and leave. External subtitle files come down with the video. Once a download finishes it plays with no connection at all, with the same player and the same caption controls.

If you want the file outside the app, there is an optional MP4 export that drops a standard video into Downloads/Anilili/, ready to copy to a USB drive or another device.

AniList and MyAnimeList sync

Signing in is optional and the app works fully without it. When you do connect an AniList or MyAnimeList account, a few things switch on:

• Your lists appear inside the app, so Watching, Planning and Completed are one tap away.
• Add to My List shows up in the player, so you can add a title mid-episode without leaving playback.
• Continue watching is built from your progress, and episodes resume at the exact position you stopped.
• Watched-episode progress can sync back to your account automatically, so your public list stays current.

Episode controls

• Autoplay rolls into the next episode when one ends.
• Skip intro and outro jumps the opening and closing sequences.
• Episode drawer lets you jump anywhere in the season without backing out of the player.
• Next and previous buttons for quick moves.
• Subtitle delay that can persist across a whole season, so you set it once for a badly timed release and forget it.

The TV interface

The TV build is not the phone app stretched wide. It is a separate layout with large cards, a cinematic home row, visible focus outlines and spacing that stays inside the TV-safe area. Every screen is reachable with a D-pad, and the player control bar is arranged for a remote rather than a thumb.

The same app runs on Android TV, Google TV and Fire TV. On Fire TV the Cast module is left out because Fire OS cannot serve it, which also removes a start-up crash a few devices hit.

Discovery and search

Browse by genre, sort by trending, newest, popular, movies or top rated, and open a details page with score, format, year, studio, episode count and the next airing date for shows still in progress. Search is full text, with the same genre filters on tap.

Diagnostics and support reports

When something misbehaves, the app can build a shareable support report with app version, playback state, device model, network type and recent diagnostic lines. It is meant to be pasted into a help thread so a problem can be looked at without a long back and forth. Nothing leaves your device unless you choose to share the report.
