Setup guide
Install Anilili on an Android phone or tablet
Anilili is not on the Play Store, so you install the APK yourself. This takes about two minutes and the steps are the same on Samsung, Pixel, Xiaomi, OnePlus and every other Android phone.
Before you start
- Android 5.1 (Lollipop) or newer. Almost every phone still in use qualifies.
- About 60 MB of free space for the app, plus room for any downloads.
- A browser or a file manager. Chrome is fine.
Installing an APK from a trusted source is a normal Android feature, not a hack or a root exploit. The system just wants you to confirm it once.
Install in five steps
-
Download the APK
Open the download page and tap Phone & tablet APK, or use the direct link: Anilili.apk. Let the download finish.
-
Open the file
Tap the download notification, or open your Files app, go to Downloads and tap Anilili.apk.
-
Allow this one app to install
Android will say the browser or file manager is not allowed to install apps. Tap Settings on that prompt, turn on Allow from this source, then press back. On older phones this switch is under Settings → Security → Unknown sources.
-
Confirm the install
Tap Install. If Play Protect shows a warning about an unknown app, choose Install anyway. This warning appears for every app that did not come from the Play Store.
-
Open Anilili
Tap Open, or find the new icon in your app drawer. You can turn the install permission back off afterwards if you prefer.
First run
The app opens straight to the home screen. Signing in to AniList or MyAnimeList is optional and can be done later from Settings. Browse to any title, open an episode and press play. If you plan to watch on the move, queue a few downloads while you are on Wi-Fi.
If the install is blocked
| Message | What to do |
|---|---|
| App not installed | An older or differently signed Anilili is already on the device. Uninstall it, then install again. Your list sync is tied to your account, not the app. |
| Parse error / There was a problem parsing the package | The download was incomplete, or the file is for the wrong device type. Download again, and make sure you took a phone build, not a _tv build. |
| Blocked by Play Protect | Tap More details, then Install anyway. You can also open Play Store → profile → Play Protect and turn off scanning temporarily. |
| Installer keeps closing | Free up storage, restart the phone and try once more. Very low storage breaks the package installer. |

That is the whole setup
Once the app is open, no account is required. Browse, press play, and download for later.
