Install problems
| Problem | Fix |
|---|---|
| App not installed | A different build or signature is already present. Uninstall the old Anilili and install again. |
| Parse error | Incomplete download or wrong build type. Download again from the download page and match phone vs TV. |
| Play Protect blocked the install | Choose More details, then Install anyway. This warning is standard for sideloaded apps. |
| No install button | Unknown sources is off for the app doing the install. Turn it on for that browser, file manager or Downloader. |
More detail: Android setup, Fire TV setup.
Playback problems
- Black screen with sound: switch content scaling to Fit, or change the source. Some providers ship a codec a given device cannot decode in hardware.
- Buffering that never clears: lower the quality, or pick another server. Test your connection speed on the same network.
- Video stutters: turn off any battery saver, close background apps, and try a lower resolution. On older devices, 720p is the safe target.
- Audio out of sync: pause and resume once. If it persists, change source. Baked-in sync errors follow a specific provider's file.
- Playback stops after a few minutes: disable aggressive battery optimisation for Anilili in system settings.
A title will not load at all
- Open the source or server menu in the player and try each entry. Availability differs per provider.
- Toggle between sub and dub. One may exist while the other does not.
- Wait and retry later. Providers go down and come back. This is the single most common cause.
- Reorder your servers so a reliable one is first.
- Check whether the episode has actually aired. Simulcast gaps look like errors.
Anilili does not control provider uptime or catalogue. When a show is missing everywhere, it is missing upstream, not removed by the app.
Subtitle problems
- No subtitles: open captions in the player and select a track. Some sources bundle them, some need the separate track picked.
- Subtitles mistimed: use subtitle delay to shift them, and enable the option to keep the offset for the season.
- Hard to read: caption styling lets you set size, colour and a background box.
- Wrong language: switch tracks, or change source. Track labels come from the provider and are sometimes generic.
Download problems
- Download stuck at 0%: the source is unavailable. Cancel, pick another server, start again.
- Download fails near the end: free storage and retry. Partial files are cleaned up automatically.
- Downloaded episode will not play: the file is incomplete. Delete and re-download.
- Cannot find the MP4 export: look in
Downloads/Anilili/with a file manager. The in-app library lists downloads separately from exports. - Downloads pause when the screen locks: allow background activity and unrestricted battery use for Anilili.
Sign-in and sync
- Login page will not open: a system webview update is pending, or a VPN is interfering. Update Android System WebView, or pause the VPN for the login step.
- List is empty after signing in: pull to refresh. If your account has private lists, check the app has the scope it asked for.
- Progress not syncing: confirm sync is enabled in Settings, and that you finished enough of the episode to count as watched.
- Signed out unexpectedly: the token expired. Sign in again. Clearing app data also removes the session.
TV-specific issues
- App missing from the Google TV home: open Settings → Apps → See all apps, or add a shortcut with a launcher tool.
- Remote focus feels lost: the visible focus ring shows the current item. Press down or right to move into a row.
- Fire TV crash on launch: make sure you installed Anilili_tv.apk, not the phone build. Cast in the phone build breaks start-up on Fire OS.
- No cast button on TV: that is by design. The TV build has no Cast because playback is already on the TV.
Sending a support report
If none of the above helps, open Settings → About → Share support report. It bundles the app version, playback state, device model, network type and recent diagnostic lines into text you can paste into a help thread. It does not include your account password or personal library. Nothing is sent until you share it.
